The sun is beaming, the kids are done with school for the year and vacations are set for the summer.

But, wait, what do the kids want to do?

Hofstra University has what you're looking for with their Sports Academy summer program. The camp, which offers sports clinics ranging from basketball, baseball, cross county, and lacrosse looks to not just allow kids to have fun while learning, but also looks to teach what them it takes to be a Division 1 athlete.

It was a blast from the past Saturday night at Hofstra's James M. Shuart Stadium as the Long Island Lizards (2-3) played host to the Toronto Nationals (0-5). The two teams have not met since the Nationals defeated the Lizards in overtime last year in the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) semifinal.

The Hofstra Softball team (43-10) will begin NCAA Tournament play when it travels to Tucson, Ariz., and faces Oklahoma State (43-14) in the opening round of the regionals on Friday. Arizona, the 10th-seed in the tournament, will face Cornell in the other opening-round game of the double-elimination regional on Friday.

Matt Botting and Bryan Miller produced five RBIs on 3-for-4 hitting each for Wilmington, as Adelphi lost their final regular season home game at William J. Bonomo Memorial Field to their non-conference opponent Thursday, 7-5. Seven Wildcat starters had at least one hit in the game.

“There a good team, Wilmington, they swing the bats,” Adelphi coach Dom Scala said of the Wildcats’ offense.
