As Nassau News Live continues to meet its dual goal of serving the general public as a reliable news source, and as an educational and career experience tool for Hofstra University journalism students, the site will undergo a redesign beginning April 20.
A year flew by and the anniversary was nearly a month ago, but things are so busy at Nassau News Live that we are now just getting to our one-year anniversary report.
HEMPSTEAD - In honor of all the hard work the Nassau News Live staff put in over the past three months of the inaugural days of the site, our top editors honored reporters in a variety of categories.
The award, appropriately called the Popeye Pulitizers, focused not just on the traditional forms of journalism, but also honored those on staff who exceled at areas where NNL is on the cutting edge -- live blogging and live webcasting.
In Feb. 2009, Nassau News Live launched from the NewsHub at Hofstra University under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Mo Krochmal of Hofstra University's School of Communication. The student-led project serves as the launching pad for new technologies and work flows first tested and developed in Krochmal's research in journalism and education.
Located in Dempster Hall, Nassau News Live starts with the goal of creating a trusted serious news website and fostering new connections between Hofstra and the people living in the surrounding communities while enhancing the education of journalism students with the opportunity to work in a 21st Century news organization.
